yeah hey folks we're out here with Miss Summer she is a 7 and 1/ 12month old golden retriever and we just got her she's going to be here for a 5e puppy board and train program and this is her very first lesson you are witnessing it right now the only thing you missed was the last minute I went click and paid her so that right there is her fourth click but for you it's the second click that you've seen that's how much you've actually missed when it comes to her training so without further Ado we're just going to kind of show you how we build a little bit more engagement a little more trust good nice relationship with her and I because she's a little flat a little scared her environmentals are not solid her socialization is not solid she's not a very outgoing dog she's it's got some issues in fact I'll try to show you and the reason I'm going to show you is I've been on my feet all day so I was going to think about sitting on this but I have a feeling we'll see how she does with it good not bad at all some dogs would do a back flip when they heard that sound so she's very hungry she's ready to work and I'm really just going to do some engagement normally I would stand up and do this but like I said I've been on uh my feet all day so see a little hesitant even just from the the footwork of George over there so we'll go ahead and not be lazy there you go see a little more comfortable with that doesn't hurt though to show her different pictures and what we usually do on on an initial training like this is just kind of run through her routine see what she's good at see what her strengths and weaknesses are for instance we have a place board there so let's check that place board out I'm interested to see if she's going to be comfortable with this she's near it so that's good not bad not bad at all considering her her little background and the little bit I know about her being a little bit of a scaredy-cat not huge right but a little bit a little things stress her out she's doing wonderful coming on there it's not perfect she's a little hesitant let's see if I can get all four feet on pay for that effort need a little more effort out of you sweetness good job that last switch should come on pretty easy very nice nice so we make a note Little Miss summer here is going to need a little bit of help with the place board I'm also charging up the Mark when you hear a click you get paid she doesn't know what that means yet she doesn't know what the place board means yet here get some of those she doesn't know how to heal but let's see if she's naturally inclined to heal I can tell you already she likes to kick out oh yeah so we're painting that picture for her now that hey if you stay next to me amazing things happen happen she pulls really bad on the leash so stay tuned for that for that video where we're going to teach her how to to stop pulling on the leash she's a sweet dog just has some uh some issues we got to get over we got to build up her confidence give her a job to do uh she was basically starting to F already at this young age filling the role of what we call security bouncer bodyguard because the owners weren't keeping her in check and so in just the last few weeks she started barking really bad at the neighbors so bad that the owners in fact said that it's quote embarrassing they can't take her on a walk anymore because she's barking at everybody and it's true because even when we saw we'll spin around cuz I think the sun's getting kind of in the wrong direction there I don't know if the sun's in the wrong direction or we are but here's a first little oh there we go I was going to give you a little tap on the prong to introduce to it but anyhow she's got a little bit of issues with some socialization with people uh my three-year-old came out she started howling hackles up at the three-year-old so that's not good let's see if we can cheat her into an sit beautiful now the question is will she down that's always a big tell for me as to how much the dog trusts me and trusts the situation is if she will go if she will go low cuz being in a down is about the most precarious position the dog could be in and this is a good sign this is a very good sign do that again need those elbows to hit the floor good job sweetie so this is nice this is a nice first session so far we have a little bit of sit a little bit of down a little bit of healing little bit of uh Place board uh let's see I'm going to see what her engagement is like and then we'll do a recall and then we'll just make it a nice short fun sweet session and as far as engagement what I'm looking for this is best taught on the place board in fact let's see if I can use some of her energy very nice very nice and I think as you can see just my movement bringing about a little bit more this is a dog where she's a little flat so if I bring a little more energy she'll bring a little more energy whereas we have a pitbull in training right now he just comes with too much energy him man is a wild man so we need to tone him down so we'll build her up while we tone him down and let's look for that focus and then we'll probably end on either a recall or back on place look her her energy is already up already so I'm waiting for her to look me in the eye and look she already already is charged up on the mark let's see her reaction when she hears that clicker wait for her to look at me I can help by there we go no reaction there let's see free shaping that look perfect yeah I thought I thought maybe we had that clicker charged up already it's not quite charged up but you'll know it's charged up when when you click and they go like woo like they just won the lottery so we definitely need a little more she's very hand focused is not a bad thing but I need to counterbalance that with some looking me in my eye because this is ultimately where the the the voice command is going to come from so we're getting a little long in the lesson there I mean she's doing wonderful I'm really proud of that but we want to um not drag it out too long and kind of end it on a high note so I think we're going to end it on the place board so what I'm going to do is I'll charge up a free nice man that was really nice I liked her energy on that maybe we'll do a couple reps of that and then end it and end it oh yeah baby and end it with a jackpot right on there I'll show you what a jackpot is free let her know that if you you hang out with me nothing but good things happen um yeah when I dump this we can dump that as extra we got Austin hanging out I think it's time I think it's time nice all right not too too much not too too much that's plenty right there right there and let's see how she is with her food aggression if any got to watch that lip this is the first time we're feeding her so I'm going to touch her I'm waiting to see if she if she pauses or stiffens up at all cuz we definitely don't want her to have any food aggression there's no need for that but don't think uh golden retrievers can't be aggressive or have dominance issues or possession so George is saying yeah what you've met one before some golden retrievers can can have some food aggression issues I mean all dogs can any dog can so just don't let let the I mean golden retrievers for the most part about the sweetest dogs ever generally speaking but that doesn't mean they can't be dominant or have some issues so just letting her know I'm not a bad guy I'm here to help her I'm here to give her some food let her be comfortable pet her she's wonderful need to build her confidence up cuz I'd like to see her tail wagon right now but it's not she a good girl huh yeah getting filled up huh let her eat from my hands oh yeah the hands bring the food she going to get fat on this session all right anyways folks thank you all very much for watching make sure to like share subscribe if you want to learn more about how to train your dog or puppy
