now as a clinical K9 behaviorist my job is helping people work on their dogs problem behaviors and I have seen some of the worst behaviors in the world with people and their dogs some really extreme things and here at my K9 behavior and Training Facility we help people every single day and what has happened over the years is that I have seen breeds come and go in terms of how often we're seeing problem behaviors and I want to talk about the free breeds that I'm seeing with problem behaviors more than any other breed right now at the time of filming this video the first breed that is absolutely filling my inbox is the dund now the dund has absolutely boomed in popularity recently especially here in the UK and that poses an interesting question is am I seeing loads of uh Doxon with problem behaviors and demand for my help with docon with problem behaviors just because there are so many of them or is it because they are more prone to problem behaviors than many other breeds and paired with the fact that they become more popular is why my inbox is flued with them now we will never know for sure but my personal opinion on that question is that it is a combination of both docon do have a strong tendency towards reactivity excessive barking and yapping type behaviors as well as a lot of fear-based anxiety behaviors and because of the booming popularity there are a lot of unsavory breeding practices that have allowed some bad genetics into many of the Bloodlines creating nervy anxious doxin that not just have problem behaviors but are incredibly challenging to work through those behaviors with the next breed that I'm seeing incredibly often is the Belgian malamir now my opinion on why I'm seeing Belgian malir way more than I used to a few years ago is because of the rise of platforms like Tik Tok Instagram reals and YouTube shorts I personally believe that they are amazing platforms for really highlighting the incredible Feats that are possible with certain breeds with the Belgian malamir be right at the top of the list they are ludicrously capable dogs and in the right hands can achieve unbelievable Feats and it is something that is absolutely worthy of tons of admiration I think though that the problem is is that many people see those insane Feats and believe that because the dog could be train to a high level it means they're easy to train to a high level the problem with breeds like the Belgian malamir is that that couldn't be further from the truth to be able to achieve those insane Feats with Belgian malamir you need insane levels of commitment dedication skill and experience and it takes some of the best dog trainers in the world decades to develop all of those things to get their Belgium malamir to the point where we see them on those social media platforms and it makes us think that maybe we could do the same thing as well and trust me when things go wrong with breeds like Belgian malamir they quite often go very wrong and it's not a breed of dog that you want to be taking chances on and not a breed of dog that you want to be taking risks on and it is not a breed of dog that you want to be practicing on the next breed that I'm seeing incredibly often with lots of behavior problems and what's really nervous is that this is often with people with very young families is the spaniel now I am somebody that likes to go out in the countryside and work my dogs and here in the UK that often is around game shooting and there is nothing more beautiful more amazing to behold than a working line spaniel Flushing out Birds doing it inherently you can see that that is woven into the very fabric of their DNA and it is an a inspiring site the first time that you witness it and it's frankly something that never gets old however what makes them incredible doing that usually makes them terrible choices for family pets when somebody just wants a calm relaxed Kine companion to hang out in the home with them and I do believe that the majority of people choosing cocker spaniels are doing so because of just how adorable they look but that is never how you should choose your perfect breed ...
