little puppy whoa today we're checking out it's me or the dog with Victoria Stillwell let's see let's see how she does Shane Shane is a high energy child yeah and we have a dog that's a high energy dog the combination it's like lethal like they're just gonna combust young children and dogs can be a great combination but it's very difficult when you have young children you have to train them just as much you have to train the dog when you have the two of them combined the energy feeds off each other and sometimes things can get out of hand no flailing your arms in his face sounds like the parents so far are doing good they're telling the kid any kind of excessive movement is a way to get dogs more riled up so the mother gave in a good tip there he's bitten the children um sorry I know it's a lot to take in no so dog bites we have to be very careful about how we classify them and how dangerous they actually are just because this dog bites technically right biting putting the teeth on somebody doesn't always mean it's a bad thing I think a lot of people will consider a bite just a dog malady right it's not really a bite if the dog is drawing blood and causing injury then we got a problem how many times has he bitten you then I have to say like six times seven times a dog that's bitten seven times and never drawn blood actually is a very very good prognosis because that means the dog has great bite inhibition the dog is not actually danger just needs some basic manners we say Indie is a canine version of Shane these two are feeding off of each other stop stop playing that dog is very happy confident the next morning the outlook for Indiana gets Bleaker still to me just seeing this first part it doesn't seem Bleak at all the dog has a history of biting we'll call it mouthing and not breaking the skin not causing any damage the outcome looks very good actually so I ran out the bathroom to find Indy dragging Shane on his back around the living room floor by his ankle so this is something where it's kind of made for TV right at first we go oh my God this dog was dragging a child around this is awful and I kind of chuckled myself because seeing how those two were playing interacting before there isn't that dog is not aggressive there's not a part of that dog that goes I actually want to hurt that shot the dog just wants to play and sees the child as a playmate it's just like a dog would grab another dog and drag another dog around to play often times it's very easy to confuse aggression for play this morning is just a prime example of why I'm concerned about Indy in this house because the more Shane eggs India see everything there the when you see them interacting yeah I don't see a single warning center from that dog if that dog is dangerous I want your listening ears on are they on this is a good do not turn them off good good point what she's doing there dog training is not actually about training dog dog training and the majority of what I do is about training people teaching humans what they need to do to interact with dogs and to fix their dog's Behavior now tell me what happened this morning with Andy yeah let's hear Andy was biting my legs and then my shoes came off and then he started by myself what happened just before he did that were you playing with him but what I'm gonna ask you to do is really really hard when you're around Indy you like running don't you and anytime you run with a dog that gets them excited one of the best things and best rewards for dogs is actually playing Chase with them dogs love plane Chase just walk around the room I'll try yeah walk around and then walk around the room okay look what Indiana's doing look at look who's looking at you Sydney's not trying to follow you now I want you to do the same thing and I want you to run around the room can you get it going there you go okay all right did you see the difference from what Indy was doing from when you were just walking to when you were running what was the difference I was trying to do this yes but she wants to play when you when you look at that behavior that lunge forward that was a play Behavior she goes oh oh you're running it's time to play Let's Go it wasn't an aggressive line it was playful you know the difference between red light orange light and green light all kids know how to do orange light isn't a yellow light maybe over there in Britain they got orange lights red light orange or yellow light oh there we go yellow okay orange light means walk slowly this is clever what she's doing this little kid she's doing really good with this kid actually and red light means stop hey he's really smart good kid he really responsive he's listening the kid's impressive I think it's really important that the only time you play with them is when your parents are around I think that's actually a good rule in general whenever you have small children and really any dog but especially large breed dogs I would never leave that kid alone even though I know looking at this that that dog just wants to play accidents still can't happen even if a dog does have a history of no bad bites odds are it's very unlikely that a bad bite is gonna happen but it's not impossible it is a good rule when you have young children and dogs and especially a larger dog or a dog that's similar to the size of the kit that you never leave them alone you always want them supervised making Karen's life easier and keeping the children safe is a priority but Victoria is concerned with the current method of creating Indiana yeah I'm not a big fan of crazy place for Indiana he spends a good eight hours in the crate eight hours yeah that is way too much I I hate crates number one if you absolutely have to use a crate the maximum time the dog should be in their maximum is maybe three to four hours a dog living their life eight hours a day in a crate is no life for a dog to put in your kitchen here here the baby gate means that Indiana can be sectioned in one room or another perfect while she goes about her daily chores baby gates are such a useful tool if you can try to dog proof at least one room right go in the room get rid of any furniture or get rid of anything the dog's likely to chew on within reason right and try to turn that into kind of the dog isolation room dog safe room rather at the dog and go in there instead of a crate such a good idea so much better for the dog when you leave him in here with a toy yeah it's another tool for you for management yeah very much what she just said there is so important management living with your dog it's not always just black and white that we have to train this Behavior train the dog to do this train the dog to stop doing this a lot of time management is often the easiest solution to Dog Problems a lot of dog problems can just be completely avoided with proper management and then you don't even have to worry about doing training Staten Island Dog Training Club shame ready to throw say stay and then stay ready ready you can see there the way that she ran after me she does those little happy hops it's all the body language on this dog there's not a single thing of me looking at this going and in my brain I go okay that dog is dangerous there's war inside that's such a happy dog I want to show you another game Indiana oh a little flirt pulse these are fun those are a lot of fun [Music] all right jump to you a from a child's body ah flying fox I think it's dizzy doing that oh it is important that when you are doing that though you want to let the dog get it at a certain point you know maybe tease him for like 10 20 seconds and then let him get it and you tease again let him get it because if you never let him win then it stops being fun for the dog isn't this a great way to exercise your dog yeah a lot of fun I was very happy that Indy was running around letting loose all his energy because at home there's a less likely chance that he'll jump on us and bite us that's right a a tire dog is a well-behaved dog one of the biggest contributing factors to a dog misbehaving usually is lack of exercise I plan on utilizing the indoor training facility I'm going to interact with Joseph and Shane and the dog and reinforce the face she's such a happy dog this was successful training yeah successful family time good I really hope it benefits Indiana for the future honestly the best thing is these owners they're receptive to the new information they're trying to do the right thing it's really good to see owners like that with indie's aggression and hyperactivity improving it's not aggression but yes she's hyperactive Joseph when he does interact with Indy he's wonderful good good boy that's good that was a pretty good stay there I'm impressed the family is taking time to play with India and everyone is having fun good good good there you go keep it going vertical also is just a good way to bond with your dog any kind of games like that it's a great tool if I get to see Victoria again I would say thank you for helping my dog yeah he's a good kid so if I was called into that situation right looking at that reaction I would have done pretty much all the same things it's really teaching the children and the parents how to manage the dog the dog was not dangerous the dog was not aggressive with the dog maling them sure it was about putting their teeth on them yes but that alone is not inherently a Bad Thing what's bad and dangerous is a dog biting and doing damage what we had there was this a young puppy a young child the puppy views the child as someone that they can play with and that's why the plaything kind of gets a little rough everything Victoria did there though was excellent really great advice she gave all right guys that's all for today be sure to hit that like button subscribe to the channel and hit that Bell and do you ever need a little extra help training your dog check
