Title: Dog Trainer Salary During this video I'd like to talk about how much a dog trainer salary is likely to be. Are you thinking of becoming a dog trainer but not sure how much you're likely to earn and whether having a dog training career would be financially possible for you to do? There are a number of factors that you'll need to take into consideration when calculating what your potential dog trainer salary will be by becoming a dog trainer. The first thing to say is that the vast majority of dog trainers are self-employed unless they get a dog trainer job at places such as rescue centres, veterinary clinics or kennels etc. Becoming a self-employed dog trainer gives you different options of what services you may choose to offer such as group dog training classes, puppy training classes and agility training classes etc. Google your local area to see what dog trainers are currently offering and what they are charging in order to give you some idea. There are 3 other factors to take into consideration when calculating your potential dog trainer salary these are... 1) Your dog training knowledge and experience - if you already have a dog that you've trained and have helped family and friends with their dogs then you already have some dog training knowledge and experience for you to build on. If you've already had a job working with dogs or had a job that's involved you working with animals then this is naturally a plus point when deciding what to charge. 2) How confident you feel - it's not just about your knowledge and experience it's also about your self-belief and self-worth, whether you believe you can have a career working with dogs or not and how much you feel you're worth really matters. 3) Your business knowledge - How you market and promote yourself will determine how you position yourself as a dog trainer and how much you can charge. Here's what I suggest... To find a dog trainer course that ideally includes all these 3 points or enrol in individual courses that helps with your confidence and self-belief, dog training knowledge plus teaches you how to run a successful dog training business. I've got 2 additional tips for you which will boost your potential dog trainer salary... 1) Offer 1-2-1 private consultations as the cost of this is usually much higher than group classes. 2) Consider a dog training career that specializes in a certain area such as puppies, or a particular breed of dog such as Collies or a certain behaviour such as dog aggression. When you do that you become the 'go-to' person for people who have dogs in that particular group and as you specialize in that area the cost is usually higher than a regular dog trainer.
