hello and a very warm welcome I'm Nick Jones and I'm here today with pet plan to look at the subject of puppy training I'd like to start by looking at when to begin training your puppy the short answer is in essence it's never too early to start training your puppy because dogs from a very very early age can take on instruction and input from the very beginning most people will be bringing a puppy home at about eight weeks of age that's not always the case and maybe seven so maybe ten it can vary but if you're bringing a puppy home eight weeks that is an excellent time to start training rather than to worry too much about formal training in the very beginning especially if we're working with a puppy of say eight weeks of age it's important that we begin to look at introducing some very simple basic commands some of the key words you might like to consider for training are simple exercises such as the sit the down the stay or weight walking to heel teaching your puppy to stand or to give you an item these just give a very simple idea on how we introduce the concept of getting the dog to look and listen to you and that of course is really what basic training is all about once you have the basics in place with your young dog you will then have developed a much stronger bond which will nicely lead you into more advanced training techniques together [Music] you ...
