Hey guys, in this video I'm going to show you how I play with my Border Collie inside the house to tire him out mentally and physically. So, Orbit's obviously an active dog. He's got to get outside every day, but we also do play sessions like this inside the house sometimes. So, in this video, I want to show you what an indoor play session looks like. Explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. So, this is a Chucket Fetch kickball, and this is the first time he's ever seen it. So, I just like left it downstairs, came downstairs, and he saw it for the first time ever. And so you're about to see what uh play session looks like and us learn how to play with it together. So this is him just like kind of feeling it out, figuring out how to interact with it. He's playing with it like how he plays with blueberries. You see, I'm looking at it here. I'm showing him that I'm also interested in this thing as well. But yeah, this is like exactly how he plays with blueberries. just like messing with it, you know. Let me know if your dog does this type of thing in the comments. Yeah, I'm asking him like, "What is that? What is that?" This is the first time he's seeing me interact with it. And you can see now he starts to look at me, right? He's like, "Ooh, can we engage with this thing together?" Right? He's still trying to figure it out. He doesn't quite understand it yet. I've never heard so much. Doesn't quite understand how it works yet. I interact with it again. And now he's trying to figure out how he can grab it. getting a little bit more comfortable with it. All right, so there he picks it up for the first time. You got it. That's Rachel behind the camera. Oh my gosh. Oh my god. So, they're just asking for the back command again. He's still trying to figure out this toy. And look, see how he's trying to show me? He's like, "Look at this thing that I have. Look at this thing that I have. Look at this thing. I found it." And I'm like, "Wow, what is that? What is that thing that you found?" Right. I'm [Music] just using the back command there. But so I'm I'm matching his his like his interest, his fascination with the toy, right? I'm mirroring it. And so here, he's still trying to figure out how to grab it here. I utilize the back command. I call him next to me. And then watch how I roll it. See how he looks at it. And then I release him onto it. Right. So just a little bit of anticipation. Orbit likes looking at things as they move. And so I just let him look at the thing as they move. He locks onto it and I release him onto it, right? So that's why I did that. What is that? What is this? What is this? So I'm asking, what is this? What is this thing? Right. What is this thing? All right. Give it a toss up just to see what happens. Um, you can see how he's bringing it back to me. He's like, look at this thing. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. It's kind of a hard toy to tug with. It's hard for him to get like a really good grip. Again, the back command back anticipation release. Right. So, he anticipates it. He's like waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting. And then boom. Now, he releases onto it. Right. You notice how he's locked on the whole time. Right. What is this? So, does it say Chucket soccer ball? Huh? What does it say? Chuck it soccer ball. Chuck it. It says chuck it fetch. Chuck it kick fetch. This toy was recommended to us by somebody in the community. I don't remember who it was. Um, this is the comearound command. I sent him around objects clockwise. Um, he slides into it. Um, but yeah, I throw in like little commands and stuff that he knows um just in the play, right? You can see he wants to bring it back to me, right? Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. I give it a little throw. A little bit miscalculated. The ground is slippery. Got to be careful with that. Wow. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. And this like how I'm talking. This is like literally how I talk to it. So here I am. I saw that he was posturing over it, right? Possessing it, gripping it with his paws and biting it. So it's like, okay, you think you can possess it? H. Okay. Let's see if I can smack it out of there. Right. And so just it's just a little thing like this. Like I just you notice it him doing that. So it's like why is he doing that? Oh, he's trying to do this. Okay. Let's see if I can punch it out of there. Right. This gives him a chance to what? Show that he's nice and strong. You can't win it. There's no way you can win this from me. Right. I smack it some more. Right. I lost. And there. Here. You can see he's possessing it. So, I'm like, "Okay, how about instead of me trying to push it away from you, how about I just wrestle you for Let's see if I can rip it away from you this way." Right. Oh my god. He sees still trying to figure out how to get good get a good good grip on this toy. It's kind of awkward to bite it. See how I'm like locking this paw, preventing his paw from coming over like all these things. I'm giving him a noogie right now, right? And we're just [ __ ] with each other. Like the best way the best way I think to kind of think about it is the same as like if you're playing with kids. I think people overthink playing with their dog a lot. And I think if you could just like release your inner adult, like get rid of that and just tap into your Oh my goodness. It just acts silly, you know, just act like a kid. Oh my god. So here just lunges himself into me. So here I just start grabbing him, right? Put him in a headlock. He starts growling, right? He's got he's in the headlock low. He's still trying to figure out how to grab it, dude. It's kind of weird. Give a smack, right? And then you see he's trying to figure out like, you know, more teeth, guys. And then again, he's possessing it, right? I'm like, "Okay, let's try to punch it out of there." Right? Scoots all the way back. And then here, watch me mimic what he was just doing. This is what he was just doing, right? He was possessing it. So, I'm like, "Okay, let's see what happens if I try to possess it." And, you know, like for him, instead of punching it, obviously he can't do that. He tries to pull it away. And then we have like this. He just starts like spinning me around. This is actually so fun. It felt so much faster like when I was when he was actually pulling me. That was crazy. He's like, "Dad, what are you doing? Dad, what are you doing?" And now I'm just like putting him in a little like foot headlock thing, you know? All right. And we're just figuring out how to play with this toy, basically. All right. And you can see how like we're doing a lot of different things in this one thing. And I I obviously have a good idea of like what the things that the types of things that he likes and so I'm using that in the play obviously, right? I think he loves it. Yeah, he definitely loves it. Oh, it's stuck now. Oh, it's stuck now. Like here, look. Look, this is a little puzzle, right? This is a puzzle. It's stuck in between my legs. How are you going to get it? All right. I I purposely left openings on the ends like that, right? Cuz he could get it if he went this side, right? But I wanted to see if like, you know, will you figure it out? So, it's like a little puzzle in the middle of the game, right? Yeah. Now, watch this. He drops it away. Then I go for it. We go for it at the same time, right? We are waiting for each other to go for it at the same time. And so, yeah, that's that's pretty much it. And then we play for like a little bit longer. Um, you know what happens after Oh, the a UPS guy comes. That's right. I forgot. Yeah, Rachel like flipped the camera. I don't know what. But then like a UPS guy comes, so we just send him to the place board as I'm like signing for a package. Um, but yeah, that's pretty much it. So we do like we do like one of these, you know, like a play session like this inside, you know, at least once every other day at least, you know, and this isn't a substitute for the play we normally do like outside like, you know, outside is when he really opens up and like he like is properly, you know, going for it, you know. Um, but this like little type of play inside the house is just something we do like here and there just for fun really. Um, just cuz it's fun. Like this is like the middle of the day. I think we like just ate lunch or something and we're like we're about to get back to work. And so and this package I think this ball like just came in the mail or something like that. And so I just like opened it up and then I was like, "Ooh, you know, he's going to like this." And so I just set it downstairs. And then when Rachel and him came downstairs, he saw it. Um, so yeah, we play like this, you know, five, six, seven, eight minutes inside the house. It's really it's really it, you know, and yeah, so anyways, I just wanted to show this to you guys and kind of break it down um in case you have a dog like this and you want to incorporate some indoor play into your daily routine. So yeah, hope this helps. Play with your dogs today if you haven't yet and have fun. ...
